I have a passion for programming and a strong interest in helping others interpret data. To this end I want to be involved in building tools to enable others to easily gain insights from their own data.
I'm based in Oxfordshire and have over ten years experience programming, 6 years with a Statisticians hat and 6 years with a Software Engineers hat.
What drives me
- Solving problems: I'm an avid problem solver and get great satisfaction from figuring out solutions. I have enjoyed solving mathematical programming problems on Project Euler, writing code to perform arbitrage on blockchains and figuring out that complicated bug plaguing customers on production.
- Make a difference: I want to help others by empowering people by giving them tools to generate their own insights; this has a greater reach than generating insights for them.
- Think detail, make simple: There is great beauty in simplicity, but it takes great effort to achieve it. As a keen programmer, I seek simple solutions which are not only more elegant but easier to understand and maintain. I also have a strong interest in data-visualisation, a graph can synthesise much complexity.
- Fairness: I feel strongly that things should be fair and just. This shapes the way I view the world; from our political voting system and tax regimes to collectible card games and how companies interact with us.
